It is unfortunate that the history of the club is rather vague but having had information from Roy Grapes he informed me that in 1994 Colin Bland, Avril and himself borrowed county mats every Monday for about six weeks to show Felthorpe residents what short mat was about, (this at the request of Herbert Barney).

Roy recalls Herbert asking what and how to proceed with his aim of bringing more sport into the village.

 

After the old hall burnt down the new hall was built to accommodate various functions, this probably where short mat came about.

It is thought that a formal club was later formed by Jim Edwards and the first meeting they had was to form a committee and the elected members were;

        

       President........John Morgan  (The post of President and                                                                Chairman were later combined)

     

       Chairman......  Jim Edwards

Treasurer        Malcolm Blake

Secretary        Not Known

Captain           Herbert Barney

 

Future Treasurers were Ken Coster & Jeanne Morgan.
